3. The Peaks Ice Arena in Provo was constructed for the 2002 Olympics and housed the ice hockey competitions. However, the size of the arenas used for ice hockey has changed throughout Olympic History. Use the following information to answer the questions below.
a. Calculate the area of the arena for each year or period of years listed. Then,
display the data in a line plot. Be sure to label the axis.
b. Do the same for the perimeter.
c. Write 1-3 sentences describing what you see in the line plot (are the area and
perimeter getting bigger, smaller, etc.; by how much, etc.)
4. In 2002, the first ever Women’s Bobsleigh competition was held. It was won by a two-woman team from the United States: Vonetta Flowers and Jill Bakken. Use the information about this event to answer the following questions.
a. This was the first event added to Olympic bobsleighing for 70 years. When was
the last time a new event was added?
b. Below are the times for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place competitors. Which team
beat their next competitor by the largest margin? Which team beat their next
competitor by the smallest margin? In each case, what was the margin?
