Bio

Teaching elementary school was always my dream, but after living in Mexico for two years, I knew that Spanish had to be a part of it. Since then, I have tried to learn everything I could about Latinx culture, language and living, including teaching Spanish in the U.S. Living in Spain for a year opened my eyes to the wonders of the Iberian culture as well. It is something my husband and I have decided to incorporate into our family, especially in the choice to raise our children bilingual. Speaking Spanish with them has taught me SO much about the process of language learning. Those two are my number one students.

The site, and my work, is dedicated to all the amazing people who have so lovingly shared their culture, language, love and food with me and my family. I hope to help spread knowledge and awareness that helps others to respect and learn about those cultures and languages here in the United States.

Education

I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, with minors in Spanish Dual Immersion and TESOL K-12.

My master's is in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language.

As a PhD student, I study teachers and students, especially in dual language programs, and focus on education as a transformative process.

Employment

I have taught classes from first grade to college! Before getting my PhD, I taught in a dual immersion program both as an English teacher and as a Spanish/English teacher. As a master's student, I taught students coming to Spain for Erasmus or study abroad. Currently I teach TESOL courses at the college level.
